Training, Support and Development Standards

All new foster parents in the UK must complete the Training, Support and Development Standards (TSDS). The TSDS are a set of standards which foster parents must meet within their first year of fostering.

You will be supported by your Supervising Social Worker to complete your TSD workbook which will combine your knowledge, experience and certificates relating to your fostering career. We work as a team, so fear not, we are here to help you along the way! The workbook is a way to evidence your understanding and to relate it to how you have used this understanding within your everyday work as a foster parent. There are 7 Standards to meet, all of which have subsections. The standards are broken down into bite size sections which can be completed gradually over your first year of fostering. Once the workbook is complete, it is sent to our Registered Manager for sign off.
